Our Sensi Thermostat review
Sometimes all you need is a reliable product from a brand you can trust.
Emerson is a well-known and well-established company that has years of experience under its belt that can really give you confidence in the things they create. After all, they wouldn’t last 75 years in the industry if their products aren’t effective. And luckily this also applies to their thermostats.
Pros & Cons
First of all, this Sensi thermostat is extremely affordable for a smart thermostat, at only about $130 dollars. That’s half of the price of the more extravagant models out there.
For that price, you get a great machine that even has a built-in humidity sensor to help assess the room temperature.
Sensi thermostat works with the existing wiring on gas, oil, geothermal, heat pump, and radiant heat systems, wherein it can handle up to 4 stages of heating and 2 stages of cooling.
It’s a great model because it doesn’t require the commonly-needed C-Wire. In fact, it runs on 2 standard AA batteries. This means you no longer need to look for a C-Wire just to get this thing running.
However, a C-Wire is still needed if you have a 2-Wire heat only system, or an AC only system.
As for the cons, people usually notice that it does not display a usage report. Some people use this data to examine how much energy they are saving, so if you are really concerned about this information, you may opt for a different thermostat.

If you are in need of a unit that will regulate and control the machines in your HVAC (heating ventilation, and air conditioning) system, then you are going to need a regular thermostat.
But if you want a slightly more advanced piece of technology that gives you more service than just letting you adjust the room temperature manually, then you are going to need a smart thermostat for the job.
Emerson has your back on that one, since they have created an excellent model that rivals even the best smart thermostats out there. The Sensi Thermostat Wi-Fi Smart Programmable challenges the throne of the Nest Learning device by giving you an incredible service at an even more incredible price.
This review will show you the ins, outs, pros, and cons of this wonderful unit that was created to further uplift the Emerson name. Get ready for a thermostat that has been fully-loaded with 75 years worth of industrial excellence, and spiced up with the technology of the 21st century.
Sensi Thermostat review: Basic Functions
While reviewers would more commonly define a thermostat’s basic function by its ability to adjust and control your room’s temperature, this is not the case for this unique model.
While it is true that the Sensi Thermostat works effectively as a regular, the feature it is most proud of is its Wi-Fi connectivity. Emerson made sure that this Sensi Thermostat will be one of the best Wi-Fi models out there, and in that they succeeded.
Instead of focusing on turning it into a wall-mounted unit, they created an app that you can use to control all of the thermostat’s functions. So basically, you install this into your wall, but instead of pushing a lot of buttons, you just download the application and take control of it from there.
For your convenience, the Sensi app is compatible with both Android and iOS. Just connect the unit to your Wi-Fi and any compatible device (smartphone, tablet, PC, etc.) should take it from there. Control the thermostat anywhere you are.
The Sensi app is also there to guide you throughout the installation process, making it that much easier even when you are installing it all by yourself. It has a step-by-step tutorial that should help you get the model up and running right away.
And have we mentioned that it works fine without a C-Wire? This common wire is necessary for most other smart models, but not for this one. That means it is compatible with up to 9 out of 10 homes, depending on your system.
It is also compatible with the Wink app, but that’s a separate download. Therefore, it is an optional way to control and customize your Sensi.
Lastly, if you don’t have a Wi-Fi connection, you can still use it as a regular thermostat.
Sensi Thermostat review: Additional Features
Some of these aren’t really ‘additional’ features, and are still very essential to this smart thermostat’s basic performance, but they’re mostly overshadowed by the Wi-Fi features.
Nonetheless, this Sensi Thermostat lets you set up a 7-day schedule, meaning you can pick a temperature setting for each day of the week. This is especially useful if you are not home every day, since you can prevent wasteful heating and cooling when no one is home by programming the unit that way.
This helps you save up to 30 percent in energy costs, thereby saving more money in the long run, and basically helping you with your finances. That ensures that you are getting your money’s worth sooner than you think. This is because you can choose a schedule that is most energy efficient.
So not only are you saving a few dollars here and there, you are also saving Mother Nature, in a way.
Additionally, it has a sleek, yet low-profile design that really blends into the background. This is good if your home has a minimalist look, since you don’t want your thermostat to be the highlight of the room.
The Sensi Thermostat is an excellent choice if you want a device that goes at an incredibly affordable price. So if you are on a tight budget, but you don’t want to compromise your comfort, this is a great way to go.
It even gives you a lot of handy features such as Wi-Fi connectivity, making it easier to access and control no matter where you may be.
You will find many reasons to love this Sensi Thermostat, and you can go ahead and thank Emerson for it.
